The first trailer for DC Universe’s new, streaming show Titans dropped and it brings a new, more grown-up and dark energy to DC shows.

While DC movies have struggled to find their footing with moviegoers, DCTV has gained a pretty loyal following with its CW shows like Arrow, Supergirl, and The Flash. However, most of those shows tend to be the type of shows that families with older kids can watch together. With the launch of DC’s new streaming service, the comic book giant is launching a brand new scripted show, Titans, that is decidedly aimed at an adult audience.

DC released the bloody first look at the gritty take on the Teen Titans series today. As CBR reports, the show is created by Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, and Akiva Goldsman and focuses on Officer Dick Grayson (Brendon Thwaites) after ending his partnership with Batman. The trailer doesn’t give any hints as to what went down there, but based on Dick saying “fuck Batman” in the trailer, we can’t imagine it was an amicable parting of the ways.

Apart from showing us that the show will take a much darker, more adult tone than many of us who grew up with Teen Titans might be used to, it also shows us that Titans will likely follow Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s New Teen Titans storyline where Rachel Roth (aka The Raven) seeks out a group of young and rebellious heroes after encountering trouble with Trigon, her demon father. Because DC hasn’t released a lot of plot info on the series, this isn’t confirmed yet, but since Rachel Roth (played by Teagan Croft) is heavily featured in the trailer and seems to be the one seeking out Dick Grayson, it seems to be a safe bet.

We’ll likely get more information about the show throughout San Diego Comic-Con, and when Titans premieres on DC’s new streaming service this fall. But for now, you can head to DCUniverse.com to get more information on the streaming service’s offerings and pricing.
