NBC alum Tina Fey will be returning to the network – sort of.

The peacock network has placed a 13-episode order for a new show written by Fey and Robert Carlock. Ellie Kemper will star in the new show set to debut in fall 2014.

According to a press release from the network, the show will “center on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York City.”

Said Fey and Carlock two creators in a statement, “We have been lucky enough to work at NBC for our entire careers (except when Robert worked at ‘The Dana Carvey Show,’ now available on DVD) and we thank Bob and Jen for their continued support.”

Added NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, “Tina and Robert, who cemented their partnership on ‘30 Rock,’ have created a new signature comedy for us that is audacious, emotional, and clever. While tapping into very relatable themes, there isn’t anything like this anywhere else on television. NBC has been their home for many years and we’re so happy that they’ve found another way to push the comedy envelope for us.”

Fey is best known for her previous gig at Saturday Night Live where she wrote and then helmed Weekend Update. She then moved on to 30 Rock, which ran for seven seasons and wrapped last year.

Kemper starred in The Office on NBC in the role of Erin. On the film side of her career, she’s starred in 21 Jump Street, Bridesmaids, and made a cameo in Identity Thief.

NBC is busy lining up new projects for next year. Earlier this week we learned that Ellen DeGeneres is developing a lesbian comedy for the network.
