With 30 Rock soon to have aired its last proverbial TGS “Fart Doctor” sketch during its series finale airing January 31, Tina Fey is now poised to take on more film roles. First up will reportedly be the follow-up to 2011’s The Muppets.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Fey was in advanced negotiations to appear as the female lead in the sequel, tentatively titled The Muppets…again. Fey would play a Russian gulag prison guard. We don’t know much else about the plot of the film at this point but with Fey’s Russian prison guard and other confirmed supporting player Ty Burrell’s “lazy Interpol inspector” it would seem that the Muppets will be adopting a global flair.

Ricky Gervais will also be appearing as Fey’s co-lead in an as of yet unidentified role. Fey can next be seen taking over the Golden Globes hosting job from Gervais alongside Amy Poehler on January 13.

2011’s The Muppets was famously brought to the screen by lead actor and writer Jason Segel. Segel won’t be participating this time around but his writing partner, Nicholas Stoller, and director James Bobin will both be returning, along with Oscar-winning composer Brett McKenzie…and oh yes, Kermit and the gang.
