During Sunday’s live Oscars ceremony in Hollywood, William Shatner appeared and jokingly wondered why Tina Fey and Amy Poehler couldn’t helm instead of Seth MacFarlane.

Now the question has been posed to Fey.

The Fey-Poehler duo has been a beloved pairing because of their combined wit and charm – the pinnacle of which arrived at January’s Golden Globes event when they hosted.

When asked by The Huffington Post if she’d be interested in hosting, Fey felt pretty adamant about not participating. “I just feel like that gig is so hard,” she said. “Especially for, like, a woman — the amount of months that would be spent trying on dresses alone … no way.”

Fey went on to imply that there wasn’t even a one in a million chance of it happening. Oh well.

Hollywood’s finest seem well aware that the hosting gig is a huge commitment. Just yesterday Seth MacFarlane was asked on Twitter if he’d host again, to which he replied “no way” – the same exact words Fey used. In a poll we conducted on our site (at the link), 60% of readers said MacFarlane should host again.

Perhaps their resistance comes from not only the pressure of hosting but also the onslaught of criticism that every host is faced with, no matter what nationally broadcast award show they helm. With that said, Fey and Poehler teaming up to host would probably be the least-critcized of them all. Maybe if The Academy throws enough money at her, she’ll be more interested in the future.
