We finally have our first trailer for The King, a movie starring Timothee Chalamet as King Henry V, and Chalamet brings a powerhouse performance.

Timothee Chalamet has been doing a great job winning our hearts lately in flicks like Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird. However, in the new Netflix movie The King, Chalamet is taking things to a new level with an intense performance as the wayward British monarch King Henry V.

Netflix released the first trailer for the movie, and it’s absolutely outstanding. From powerhouse performances to powerful dialogue, this trailer will get you so ready for The King to land in your Netflix queue.

The King follows Hal (who you’ll know better as King Henry V), a reluctant heir to the throne that turned his back on his royal duties and his people. However, when his father dies, Hal is crowned king and must embrace the life he worked so hard to reject.

With a new title, he finds himself juggling challenging political situations, chaos, and his father’s war. More than that, he finds himself struggling to maintain the relationships he had before the crown, like the relationship he had with his friend and mentor, an aging, alcoholic knight named John Falstaff (Joel Egerton).

Facing struggles both within his country and outside of it while also attempting to decipher who he can trust and who he can’t, Hal must fight to survive and keep a crown he never wanted in the first place. And from what we can see in the trailer, Timothee Chalamet absolutely brings it when playing the conflicted king.

In addition to Timothee Chalamet and Joel Egerton, the cast is also rounded out by some other impressive actors. Lily Rose-Depp plays Catherine, a French princess and King Henry’s betrothed, Ben Mendelsohn plays Hal’s tyrannical father, King Henry IV, and Robert Pattinson plays the Dauphin of France.

With a cast this talented, it’s no surprise that the movie is being released in select theaters (to make it eligible for Oscar noms) in addition to its Netflix release. You can catch it from the comfort of your own home or in a movie theater when The King premieres this fall.
