A television adaptation of Sarah J Maas’ Throne of Glass series is coming to Hulu.

The pilot will be written by Kira Snyder, best known for writing The CW’s The 100. Anna Foerster (who helmed episodes of Starz’ Outlander and this year’s Underworld: Blood Wars) will direct the pilot for Hulu.

The news comes on the heels of the fifth book in the Throne of Glass series, Empire of Storms, hitting book store shelves. If you haven’t read it yet, do check out our book 4, Queen of Shadows, refresher!

If you’re interested in watching the Throne of Glass TV show (should it be ordered to a full season), you’ll have to cough up some cash. Hulu recently announced that they’re ending their free Hulu service, joining the ranks of streaming services like Netfilx and Amazon Prime Instant Video.

A synopsis on Sarah J. Maas’s website sums up the start of the series starring Celaena Sardothien:

In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, Celaena, an assassin, is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass—and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.
