Thor 2 is headed back for reshoots soon. The biggest reason they’re headed back to London is to add more screen time for Tom Hiddleston’s character, Loki.

While the film may be titled Thor: The Dark world, to the fans around the globe, it might as well be called Loki: The Dark World. Tom Hiddleston’s character, Loki, has become an incredible fan favorite. And now it looks like the studio wants to take advantage of the fact that we want more Loki.

Thor: The Dark World’s director, Alan Taylor, says that the “higher ups” at Marvel love Hiddleston and Loki just as much as the fans. This may be obvious from the fact that he introduced the entire Marvel panel at this year’s Comic-Con.

While many fans were upset to hear that Avengers: Age of Ultron would be Loki-less, they should be very happy to hear that Thor: The Dark World’s director recently explained during Disney’s D23 that the reshoots are so they can add in more Loki:

We’re doing full scenes, scenes that were not in the movie before. We’re adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time. We realized how well Loki was working in the movie, and we wanted to do more with him.

So it appears as though these aren’t just touch up shots, but entirely new scenes created with Loki in mind. It just goes to show how much fan outcry can do when it’s loud enough.

Surely their social network people have showed them just how much more popular Tom Hiddleston currently is than anyone else in their film. No offense Chris Hemsworth, but Loki is just a bit more exciting.

Don’t worry about last minute reshoots though, as a film of this size is almost guaranteed to need some extra shots when editing commences. Fans may recall the famous shawarma scene in The Avengers, which was shot the night before the film’s international release.

So Marvel has no problem with their director doing reshoots and pickups, and we’re definitely glad to hear that Loki will be getting more screen time when Thor: The Dark World hits theaters on its November 8 release date.
