Update (3/6/2020): Looks like Christian Bale will indeed be joining the Marvel family.

Earlier this year, rumors began swirling that Christian Bale might be making his Marvel Cinematic Debut in Thor: Ragnarok follow-up, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Now, we’re getting confirmation of Bale’s involvement from none other than Valkyrie herself, Tessa Thompson.

In a brand new interview with ET Online, Thompson revealed that Bale has in fact officially joined the cast of Taika Waititi helmed Thor: Love and Thunder.

In addition to spilling the beans on Bale’s involvement with the fourth Thor film, Thompson also revealed that he’s actually signed on to play the movie’s big villain.

“I can’t tell you much,” said Thompson when asked about Thor: Love and Thunder. “We’re going to have fun. You know, Taika is writing and directing, [there’s] some familiar faces, some new people into the mix— Christian Bale’s going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic,” revealed Thompson while speaking of the new film.

One thing Thompson didn’t reveal is which of Thor’s villains Bale will be portraying on the big screen. We’re sure Marvel fans won’t waste any time in theorizing while we wait for official confirmation of character details though!

Original Story (1/7/2020):

Thor: Love and Thunder might include the former Dark Knight himself, Christian Bale, standing alongside Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder.

Christian Bale left his mark on the comic book movie genre by starring in one of the most well-received and iconic comic book movie trilogies of all time — Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

Now it looks like the seasoned actor may be heading back to the world of comic book movies, only this time with the world of Marvel studios.

Collider broke the news yesterday that the Dark Knight actor is in talks with Marvel Studios to join the upcoming fourth Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Marvel hasn’t made any official announcements yet, so we don’t know anything about what his potential role might be. If he does end up joining Thor: Love and Thunder, it will be his first time in a comic book role since 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be the fourth movie in the Thor series of films, and will bring back Ragnarok director Taika Waititi to helm.

Chris Hemsworth will be reprising his role as the titular God of Thunder, along with Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and director Taika Waititi once again voicing fan-favorite Korg.

In addition to the returning faces from Thor: Ragnarok, Natalie Portman will likewise be returning to the fold after a one-movie absence as Jane Foster.

Director Taika Waititi revealed earlier this year that Portman’s Jane Foster will be taking on the mantle of Thor for this installment. As reported in October 2019, Love and Thunder will take some of its story beats from Jason Aaron’s The Mighty Thor, which means there’s a chance we will see Jane Foster’s cancer arc play out in the upcoming installment.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to open Nov. 5, 2021.
