Thor: Love and Thunder will not only feature two Thors, but Taika Waititi confirmed he’ll be bringing back everyone’s favorite Kronon Korg.

Taika Waititi’s Thor:Ragnarok was a blockbuster smash and a revitalization of a character who had previously garnered the least amount of success among the original members of the MCU’s Avengers.

Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth took the world of the Thor, and the character himself, away from the grand high fantasy tales and warring politics of Asgard, and instead plopped the character in the middle of a grand space adventure and let Hemsworth’s natural charisma and comedic timing come through.

It was a rather far cry from where the franchise started with Kenneth Branagh’s first Thor film — and even further away from the character’s comic book origins — but it’s hard to deny that it was successful. Thor: Ragnarok went on to gross over $800 million worldwide. That’s over $200 million more than its predecessor, Thor: The Dark World, and nearly twice that of the original Thor film.

With those kinds of numbers and critical acclaim, it was a surprise to no one when the MCU announced that Taika Waititi would be back to direct Thor 4 — which we now know is called Thor: Love and Thunder. And while it was a no-brainer that Chris Hemsworth would return as Thor, Taika Waititi surprised and delighted fans when he announced that Natalie Portman would be returning to the franchise.

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel, Waititi let us know that another fan favorite would be returning — the lovable Kronan and Taika Waititi-voiced character Korg.

Waititi was on the late night show promoting his upcoming, non-MCU release, Jojo Rabbit, but as is par for the course when you’re directing a comic book movie blockbuster, he likewise got questions about Thor: Love and Thunder as well.

When asked about the upcoming Thor movie, Waititi told the audience that his character Korg would be returning, which the audience greeted with delighted cheers. He didn’t reveal much else about the film or the role of Korg, though we did learn that he’s written a few drafts of the movie already.

As previously reported, the film will take from Jason Aaron’s The Mighty Thor storyline, though it’s yet to be seen how much of that comic book run will wind up in the movie. However, we do know that Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will be returning to wield Mjolnir and that Tessa Thompson will return as Valkyrie to rule Asgard and look for love.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on November 5, 2021.
