Kenneth Branagh did not return to direct the Thor sequel, but could he possibly be up for Thor: Ragnarok? Find out below!

However you feel about Marvel’s opening chapter of the Thor saga, one thing’s for certain: Kenneth Branagh had a blast directing Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman and the rest of the Nordic deities.

While promoting his latest movie, Disney’s live-action Cinderella, Branagh reflected back on his experience in the MCU.

“I just enjoyed the process of working with those people and I loved the boys and the girl. The girls as well. It was great,” Branagh said at the The Hollywood Reporter‘s Hollywood Masters event.

He opted not to return for Thor: The Dark World, however, because, “it was a long time, and they were way too quick for me to get straight back into another single sort of story, in terms of working on it at that time.”

As far as returning for the third installment? “Who knows. It was a pleasurable experience, and a film I’m very proud of, and one I was very lucky to be able to make. [It] did me a lot of good from which I learned an incredible amount, so I’m very grateful to them,” Branagh diplomatically responded.

Finally, Branagh talked a bit about casting Hemsworth and Hiddleston in the lead roles.

“I kept saying, ‘It’s these guys. It is these two guys. Chris Hemsworth is Thor. Tom Hiddleston is Loki. You’re going to be OK,'” Branagh said.
