The ABC Pilot for Thirtysomething(else), the Thirtysomething sequel, has added Chris Wood in a major role.

Deadline is reporting that the actor best known for playing the maniacal Kai Parker on The Vampire Diaries and Legacies and Supergirl’s dashing Daxamite, Mon-El, has been cast in an ABC Pilot. He will star as Leo Steadman in Thirtysomething(else).

The Thirtysomething series ran for four seasons between 1987 and 1991, following a group of friends in their thirties. It starred Ken Olin as Michael Steadman, Mel Harris as Hope Murdoch, Timothy Busfield as Elliot Weston and Patty Wettig as Nancy Weston.

Thirtysomething(else) will follow the grown up children of the original show’s characters! Chris Wood will be playing Leo Steadman, who is the son of Hope and Michael. The character is described as “good looking and charming,” but we could have guessed that as soon as they said “Chris Wood,” obviously. Unfortunately, Leo’s desire to be as successful as his father causes him to “skip steps along the way.” According to Deadline, “his talent and grand ideas are tripped up by his lack of focus and follow-through.”

Chris Wood is the first to join the cast of Thirtysomething(else), so we’re eager to see the talent that joins him. However, we do know that the series showrunners will be Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick, who created the original series in the 80s. Zwick will also serve as the director. During its run Thirtysomething was beloved and decorated with many Emmy and Golden Globe awards, so it looks like the sequel is in great hands.
