The first trailer for The Craft: Legacy is here, and it introduces viewers to a whole new coven of teen witches who are up to some very familiar tricks.

It’s no secret that a reboot to the 1996 cult classic, The Craft, has been in the works for the past few years, but now, Blumhouse Pictures and Sony are finally ready to give fans a taste of what they can expect from the forthcoming thriller.

On Tuesday (September 29) the studio finally dropped the first trailer for The Craft: Legacy, and it’s bound to make you feel a bit nostalgic for the original.

Played by actors Cailee Spaeny (On the Basis of Sex), Gideon Adlon (Blockers), Lovie Simone (Greenleaf), and Zoey Luna (Pose), the new coven finds themselves dabbling in magic, and likewise getting drawn in to the rush of power they feel when their spells start to work.

There’s some pretty cool nods to the original movie peppered throughout. Notably, we see the four recreating the “light as a feather, stiff a a board” scene. Additionally, there’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment in which a photograph of Nancy Downs (played in the 1996 film by Fairuza Balk) is shown as well.

While The Craft: Legacy is being pegged as a continuation of the first, there’s no denying that the trailer gives off a vibe of history seeming to be repeating itself.

With that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see how the new film sets itself apart from the original!

Written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones (Band Aid), the original plan was for the film to receive a traditional theatrical release. The studios have since reconsidered and will now be releasing the film on-demand at the end of next month.

The Craft: Legacy will be available on-demand just in time for Halloween on October 28.
