In These Broken Stars, we met Lilac and Tarver. In This Shattered World we met Flynn and Jubilee. Can you tell us about the main characters in Their Fractured Light?

That tattooed guy on the cover is Gideon, an elite computer hacker — you heard him referred to in This Shattered World as the Knave of Hearts. And in fact you met Sofia in book two as well — she’s from Avon, and we last saw her helping Flynn hide from the soldiers, and then being shipped out to an orphanage. Both Gideon and Sofia have more connections to previous characters than readers know about right now, and both have, uh, significant problems with trust.

You mentioned previous characters — will we see some familiar faces in Their Fractured Light?

Without spoiling too much… yes! Fans who have been hoping for more of their old favorites definitely won’t be disappointed. Will everyone get along? Will everyone work together? Well, let’s just say everyone’s in for some surprises. We’ll also say that a good way to prep for book three would be to read our free e-short set in the same universe. You can find it here if you’re American/international (use the Scribd link, internationals) or here if you’re an Aussie.

Each of the books in this series features a star-crossed couple, and a new romance. What can you tell us about this one?

In These Broken Stars, Tarver and Lilac fell in love in a way only a life-altering situation permits, and that’s the love they fought for. In This Shattered World, we had a different kind of romance. Flynn and Lee fell for each other in a warzone, and they were fighting for a world in which they could find out whether they were meant to be together. In Their Fractured Light we put together a criminal and a con artist, who end up fighting to find out if their love is even real, or just part of a long string of lies and deception.

Since the second book came out, you’ve become New York Times bestsellers. Can you tell us what it was like to hear that news?

We were actually on tour when we found out! We were in our hotel room in Houston, TX, preparing to go visit the awesome Blue Willow Books, when we got an email from our agents asking what number they could contact us on urgently. We actually thought something terrible had happened! Once we got on the phone with them and our editor and heard the news, we cried, hugged, called our families, and danced like idiots. Then we cleaned up and went to celebrate the best way we know how—with booksellers and readers! When we got back to our hotel room that night we ordered chocolate ice cream and champagne from room service, because c’mon, wouldn’t you?

And finally, we know the Starbound series has been optioned for TV. What can you tell us?

There’s much we know, but little we can tell… yet! Things are certainly moving, but Hollywood’s either very slow, or very fast! We can definitely say we’ll share news as soon as we’re allowed, and we hope that’s soon!

About ‘Their Fractured Light’

A year ago Flynn Cormac and Jubilee Chase made the now-infamous Avon Broadcast, calling on the galaxy to witness LaRoux Industries’ corruption. A year before that, Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux were the only survivors of the Icarus shipwreck, forced to live a double life after their rescue.

Now, at the center of the galaxy on Corinth, all four are about to collide with two new players in the fight against LRI.

Gideon Marchant is an underworld hacker known as the Knave of Hearts, ready to climb and abseil his way past the best security measures on the planet to expose LRI’s atrocities. Sofia Quinn, charming con artist, can work her way into any stronghold without missing a beat. When a foiled attempt to infiltrate LRI Headquarters forces them into a fragile alliance, it’s impossible to know who’s playing whom—and whether they can ever learn to trust each other.

With their lives, loves, and loyalties at stake, only by joining forces with the Icarus survivors and Avon’s protectors do they stand a chance of taking down the most powerful corporation in the galaxy—before LRI’s secrets destroy them all.

The New York Times best-selling Starbound trilogy comes to a close with this dazzling final installment about the power of courage and hope in humanity’s darkest hour.
