The Wolverine DVD/Blu-ray release date has been announced by 20th Century Fox. The DVD/Blu-ray will be on store shelves in December, in time for Christmas.

The Wolverine DVD/Blu-ray release date is set for December 3. Starring Hugh Jackman, the film opened at the number one spot at the box office, despite its lukewarm $55 million domestic opening. While it could be called somewhat of a disappointment domestically, its foreign take definitely made it a success.

The film’s foreign box office ended up bringing in $241 million, while the domestic total ended up at $131 million. With a $120 million dollar budget, The Wolverine was a gamble, but it ended up with a total of $372 million worldwide. There will most likely be another film in the pipeline, while Wolverine will show up next in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The Wolverine’s most interesting DVD/Blu-ray set will be it’s “Unleashed Extended Edition,” which will include 4 discs. There will be a behind-the-scenes feature, as well as an alternate ending for the film. This set will also include a tour of X-Men: Days of Future Past’s set, which we’ve heard great things about.

The regular, 2-disc Blu-ray, includes all the features from the special edition except for the unrated cut of the film and the director’s commentary. Check out the additional features below via the official press release:

‘The Wolverine’ Unleashed Extended Edition

  • The Extended, Unrated Cut – the first for the X-Men franchise
