The Witcher season 2 is set to begin production in the UK, and it’s added seven more cast members to the upcoming season.

The Witcher is on its way to becoming Netflix’s biggest season 1 TV series ever, and the second season is already one of the most anticipated upcoming seasons.

The second season will of course bring back leads Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as everyone’s favorite bard, Jaskier. Netflix has also recently announced seven new castmembers.

Joining the second season are Yasen Atour (Young Wallender) as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen (Fast and Furious 9) as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, recent graduate Mecia Simson as Francesca, and Game of Thrones’ Tormund Giantsbane himself, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen.

And though fans were hoping to see his name pop up in the announcements, for now it looks like Vesemir won’t be part of season 2 — though it could be that they are waiting to announce his name separately, as he is a rather major character.

“The reaction to season one of The Witcher set a high bar for adding new talent for the second season,” said Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher showrunner and executive producer. “Sophie Holland and her casting team have once again found the very best people to embody these characters, and in the hands of these accomplished directors, we’re excited to see these new stories come to life.”

There will be a whole host minor characters returning as well, such as MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Lars Mikkelson as Stregobor, and Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold.

The second season will likewise bring in an impressive list of directors. The Umbrella Academy ’s Stephen Surjik will direct 201 and 202, Cursed’s Sarah O’Gorman will direct episode 203 and 204, The Last Kingdom ’s Ed Bazalgette is on deck for episodes 205 and 208, and Meet the Patels’ Geeta Patel will helm episodes 206 and 207.

The Witcher is set for a 2021 release, though there’s no official date set yet.
