Can’t get enough of The Witcher? You’re in luck! Netflix announced recently that it will be developing an anime film based on the popular fantasy show.

Looks like plenty of people chose to toss a view to The Witcher over the last month or so since its debut.

According to Netflix, The Witcher is tracking to be the streamer’s biggest season 1 TV series ever, with 76 million member households choosing to watch the Henry Cavill-led fantasy show.

In addition to the hordes of people choosing to tune in, The Witcher series has also increased the demand for the book series on which it is based, prompting The Witcher publisher Orbit Books to print more than half a million more books to meet the demand.

And though fans will have to wait until 2021 to tune in to season 2, they’ll also be able to look forward to seeing their favorite new fantasy world in anime form as well. Netflix announced recently that Nightmare of the Wolf, an anime film based on the world of The Witcher, is currently in the works.

Nightmare of the Wolf will take viewers back to a new threat facing the Continent, and will be produced by the series’ executive producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau DeMayo. It will likewise loop in the famed talents of Studio Mir, the Korean animation studio responsible for Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra and Netflix’s original anime series Voltron Legendary Defender.

Though producer and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich stated that she’s known about the anime film for the last year, there’s no word yet on what the specific plotline for the anime series might be nor a release date. However, given that we have over year to wait for season 2, Nightmare of the Wolf could be used to fill in the gaps between the seasons of the series.
