Will and Grace will end its revival run on NBC after three seasons (and eleven overall).

Prepare to say goodbye to Will and Grace again — and for the final time.

NBC announced today that the the long-running comedy show, which returned to air on NBC in 2017 (11 years after it first said goodbye), will be ending after the third season.

Will and Grace will end its complete run with 246 episodes — a combination of its 8 season original run from 1998 to 2006 and its 3 season revival run from 2017 to the final 2020 season.

Executive producers Max Mutchnick, David Kohan, and James Burrows gave a statement on the ending of the revival season, saying:

We think of the Will & Grace reboot episodes the way Karen Walker thinks of martinis – 51 is not enough, 53 is too many. That is why, after consulting with the cast, we all have decided this will be the final season. They say you can’t go home again, but we did. And now, three seasons and 52 episodes later, we’re even more proud of something we never thought we’d get a chance to do again. We have had a once-in-a-lifetime experience twice. And for that, we owe a double debt of gratitude to NBC, this show’s supportive and caring home since day one.

Will and Grace has the distinct record of having 91 Emmy Award nominations and 18 Emmy wins, which includes Outstanding Comedy Series. It is also one of the few shows in TV history where each member of the cast has won an Emmy.

The executive producers talked about the show as the “highlight of their careers” and gave special thanks to the four leads — Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally, and Sean Hayes — whom they said they considered the “finest and funniest ensemble sitcom cast of all time.”

The cast themselves likewise reacted to the news positively, with Sean Hayes tweeting out the announcement and thanking fans for their love and support, saying, “we did it all for you.”

The third and final season of the Will and Grace revival will have 18 episodes and premiere in 2020, though a premiere date is yet to be set.
