After the crazy events at the nuclear power plant on last week’s episode of The Whispers, we are more anxious than ever to see what’s next on tonight’s episode, “What Lies Beneath.”

The end of The Whispers season 1, episode 4, “Meltdown,” was a giant puzzle. The plant melted down like Drill intended, but rather than dousing everyone within 100 miles in radiation, the toxic cloud emitted from the plant simply imploded and vanished. Not to mention that Claire, Sean, and Henry Bennigan, who were all in the cooling tower when the meltdown took place, show no traces of radiation on their persons at all.

Drill clearly has some plans in place, and we are more anxious than ever to know exactly what those are. On this week’s episode, we’ll see Claire try to figure out why Sean has no memories of anything before the crash (or that his name is Sean), and see if she can do anything about that. Wes heads back to further investigate the fulgurite and see if he can make some sort of connection, while his wife is on Drill duty. Minx caused enough trouble by listening and helping Drill, so it’s time they put a stop to it. Check out the official synopsis below, and a sneak peek that is bound to have you tearing up by the end.

Synopsis

“Claire speaks with Sean, who has no memories of her or their life together, and tries to get him to remember something…anything about his past; Wes has an epiphany and heads back to Mali to take another look at the fulgurite, and Lena keeps a watchful eye on Minx to make sure that her conversations with Drill have ceased.”

Sneak Peek

It seemed remarkable that the Bennigans had no signs of radiation exposure when they walked out of the power plant, so we shouldn’t be surprised they’re being thoroughly checked out, but this short scene is enough to break your heart over and over again.

Stills

Make sure to check out these few stills from the episode, hinting that a decent part of the episode will be spent trying to get answers, presumably from Sean Bennigan.
