Drill changed the game on this past week’s episode of The Whispers. What could this possibly mean for everyone going forward?

The past couple of weeks, Drill has been changing the stakes at every turn. He coerced Lena into shooting a total stranger at point blank range, we learned that the ultimate stage of Drill’s presence is that he will fully possess a child, and this week, he took a life. (If you could use a refresher as to how exactly that happened, check out our recap of the episode.)

Despite all the things that have gone on thanks to Drill and his visibly-challenged self, we hadn’t seen him as the all out bad guy yet. He had done some manipulative things, but any creature would do what they had to survive in a new world. We couldn’t blame Drill for most of his actions until now.

Drill stepped over the line when he took it upon himself to get revenge on Wes Lawrence for the part he played in trying to rid the Earth of the invisible being. Wes swore that Drill would not escape, and that he would be destroyed, but Wes had no idea that the declaration would cause Drill to take matters into his own hands.

We can’t help but wonder what this means for Minx? Will Drill cross her off his list of potential host bodies now that her mother is dead at his hand? Or will this just make her an even more tempting target.

Ultimately, it seems that it will all come down to whether Drill only holds Wes responsible for his almost-demise, or whether Drill feels the need to punish Claire and Sean for their roles in trying to destroy Drill. Our money is on him spreading the blame around, so we imagine that Minx has remarkably less to worry about than Henry and his parents.

There’s one thing we know for certain: no child is safe while Drill is on the loose. His almost-possession of Nicholas in “Darkest Fears” showed just how desperate Drill is to survive. Henry, Minx, Harper, the President’s daughter, Nicholas, and anyone else still young enough to believe in an imaginary friend is in danger, and it’s up to their parents to put a stop to it.

The Whispers airs Monday nights at 10/9c on ABC.
