Ben Affleck’s basketball drama The Way Back and Lionsgate’s faith-based drama I Still Believe starring KJ Apa will both be released early via VOD.

The Way Back was released in theaters on March 6 and has received critical acclaim from critics and audiences. However, given the state of theater closures, it’s been a tough road at the box office, where the film has grossed $14.6 million worldwide on a $25 million budget.

Which is why The Way Back is following in the footsteps of Warner Bros. other theatrical release Birds of Prey in getting an early release on video-on-demand. The sports drama will release to VOD platforms on March 24, two weeks after its theatrical release.

“With audiences largely unable to view films in theatrical release under current circumstances, we have decided to provide the alternative of early digital ownership of our currently released titles to people looking for great entertainment options,” Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warners film group, said in a statement. “So, while we remain big fans of the theatrical experience and hope audiences are able to return to cinemas in the near future, we understand that these are challenging times and offering this option simply makes sense.”

In addition to The Way Back, Lionsgate will release the KJ Apa and Britt Robertson-starring faith-based drama I Still Believe on premium VOD platforms starting on March 27.

“With theaters closed nationwide due to these unprecedented events, we want to continue to make I Still Believe available to consumers. The theatrical experience is core to our business, and exhibitors are our integral partners and allies. We’re enormously proud of the movie that the Erwin Brothers created and are grateful to be able to share it with audiences for their home viewing pleasure,” Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said Thursday in a statement.
