Yesterday, Norman Reedus answered fan questions on MTV’s “Big & Best of 2012” live stream, and he hinted a little bit about Daryl’s future when season 3 returns in February. Will Daryl make it out of Woodbury alive?

Norman Reedus spent some time with MTV yesterday on their “Big & Best of 2012” online special, and shared a little bit about Daryl’s future, his reunion with Merle, and his favorite movies of 2012.

“It doesn’t look good for Daryl right now. I can’t really say, although there were some spoilers [in the promo for the show’s return]. There are a lot of toes being stepped on in both camps. My brother [Merle] is back and pissed off at everybody.”

From The Walking Dead promo that aired after the midseason finale, we can assume that Daryl makes it out of Woodbury, since he’s seen running through the woods. The real tension will come when he brings Merle to the prison. At least that’s what we predict Daryl will do.

“[Merle’s] pissed off everybody, so a lot of people want to hurt him, there are a lot of people he wants to hurt, and I’m kind of in the middle of both. So it wasn’t exactly what I was looking forward to.”

They also try to quiz Reedus on the recent trend of archers in movies (citing The Avengers and Brave), but Reedus admits he doesn’t have much time for movie-going.

However, Reedus does state that he is a big fan of Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games.

If Norman Reedus were to ever find himself in a zombie apocalypse, he says that the three people he would want most by his side are Lucy Liu, his son, Mingus, and Olivia Newton-John. Reedus claims that he’s a big Xanadu fan.

A surprise video question from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman asks Reedus who he thinks is a better second-in-command, Shane or Daryl. Naturally, Reedus replies that Daryl is the better leader.

“I don’t think his loyalty’s ever in question. He finds a new sense of purpose in having people rely on him to survive. I don’t think he ever had anyone rely on him before.”

We know we’d prefer to have the crossbow-bearing Dixon brother as our post-apocalyptic leader.
