With The Walking Dead back in just over one week, rumours are circulating about what may and may not be in store for the much awaited season 3 return. However, one very juicy tidbit of possible spoiler was let loose…

We’ve all been holding out for any information we can get our hands on as D-Day (“Dead-Day”) draws nearer; however, in a release by TVLine.com episode nine could give us more than we bargained for.

In the popular “Ask Auseillo” piece, one fan asked for “a niblet of scoop” on what we could be looking forward to in the second half of the latest season; and the response was fascinatingly mysterious.

When the show returns on February 10, not only will we learn the outcome of the Daryl/Merle showdown, a character you probably never thought you’d see again will put in an appearance, and Rick will do something (literally) everyone has wanted to do at one time or another.

Interesting… Let’s break this down so as not to confuse anything.

The “Merle and Daryl showdown”

Last we saw they were facing each other in the screamer pits, Merle for allegedly having betrayed the Governor, and Daryl for having attacked Woodbury. Knowing what we do about the Dixon brothers this could go two ways. On one hand the brothers (being the absolute beasts they are) could fight off the walkers and save each other, escaping out of Woodbury together back to the prison. On the other hand, we could be about to watch a fight to remember, with one brother (will Daryl prevail?) beating the other and being proclaimed the winner. Even so, the Governor doesn’t seem to be the kind of man to pardon anyone who dares cross his path.

“A character you probably never thought you’d see again will put in an appearance”

A lot of skepticism on this one. In the graphic novels, this could pinpoint to the return of Morgan Jones; the man who saved Rick and told him about the new walker infested world in season 1. In an interview with actor Lennie James, who played Morgan, Digital Spy reported James as saying:

It remains a possibility I could return… The character I play is away for a long time, so it’s kind of up to them whether I stay away or if I come back …There’s a possibility I might go back. It just depends on timing-wise if I’m free.

If this is the case then what will Morgan be doing in episode nine? And how will Rick react upon seeing the man who saved his life and prepared him for a post-apocolyptic world?

“Rick will do something (literally) everyone has wanted to do at one time or another”

This one literally has us stumped. The options are numerous, and whilst many ideas are out there it would be futile to attempt to pinpoint what this statement could definitely mean. In this case, maybe we just need to wait and see what the midseason comeback has in store.

Tune in to AMC’s The Walking Dead on Feb 10 at 9/8 p.m. ET/PT.
