The Walking Dead season 8 premieres in less than a week! But first, refresher yourself on everything big that happened last season!

Negan killed Abraham & Glenn:

This brutal scene is hard to forget, but it’s easily the biggest moment from last season and therefore has to be mentioned. Abraham was the first to go, after falling victim to Negan’s eenie, meenie, miney, moe game. Afterwards, Daryl tried to attack Negan which earned the group another punishment. But instead of killing Daryl, Negan killed Glenn. They also took Daryl as their prisoner when they left Rick and the group behind.

The Kingdom:

Viewers got introduced to the Kingdom and their cooky leader King Ezekiel when Morgan and Carol saught refuge there. Since Carol was injured from her fight with a savior they had to stay until she was better. In the meantime, Morgan kept himself busy helping out the community and quickly earned their trust. Once Carol was healed, she decided to leave the Kingdom but stayed within close range so that they knew where she was.

Rick’s big confession:

With everything going on with the Saviors, Rick admitted to Michonne that he knows Judith isn’t his biological daughter. Still, he loves her and Carl more than anything and just wants to keep them safe. That’s why he decided to go along with Negan’s plan for Alexandria to serve under them despite the fact that they killed Glenn and Abraham.

Sasha & Maggie save the Hilltop:

After what happened to Glenn and Abraham, both Sasha and Maggie went to stay at the Hilltop with Jesus. They weren’t able to escape the torment of the Saviors there though. The group tried to teach the Hilltop a lesson by setting up a trap with walkers inside their walls. Only Sasha, Maggie, and Jesus left safety to stop the walkers from taking over the community. It earned them respect and trust from the community, but the leader Gregory still wasn’t a fan of theirs.

Carl goes to the Sanctuary:

In what turned out to be a pretty dumb idea, Carl hid in the back of a Savior’s truck and ambushed them once they got to the Sanctuary. He was able to do a little bit of damage with his big gun – but they still easily overpowered him. Negan was impressed by Carl’s guts and gave him a tour of the compound.

But he also tortured the kid a little when he forced Carl to show him his missing eye and made him watch the punishment of another Savior which involved severely burning the man. Once he was done with him, Negan brought Carl back to Alexandria without physically harming him.

Daryl escapes:

After getting a note to leave, and a path to follow, Daryl was able to escape the Sanctuary. He did kill one of the Saviors before running into Jesus and leaving with him. Together they headed to the Hilltop since Daryl couldn’t go to Alexandria and risk being caught by Negan again. There, Rick and some others had an emotional reunion with Daryl and started to talk about fighting back.

Negan kills Spencer:

Negan’s death toll quickly rose this season. When Spencer tried to warm Negan up to him, it only ended up getting him killed. Rosita took the chance to try and shoot Negan, but ended up missing. So Negan had Olivia killed as a punishment. They also took Eugene when he confessed to making the bullet that Rosita used.

Rick meets King Ezekiel:

Since Rick didn’t have the numbers to fight back against Negan he needed help from some other communities. Gregory was useless so Jesus took Rick to meet Ezekiel at the Kingdom. But that was pretty much a bust too, no one wanted to risk their own lives even if Negan was giving them hell. Like the Hilltop, some people at the Kingdom wanted to fight even if their leaders didn’t.

Rick meets Jadis:

The two leaders meet when Jadis’ people took Father Gabriel as their prisoner. Instead of being suspicious of her, Rick decided to try and make a deal with her. In exchange for help with Negan, Rick would provide Jadis and her people with weapons. He just had to find them first.

Rick and Michonne went on a little side trip and discover a carnival with canned goods as well as weapons. They had to kill all the walkers in order to get them though and it nearly cost them their lives.

Sasha & Rosita team up:

Even though the two women don’t get along, they both wanted to kill Negan for what he did to Abraham. So they joined forces to go after the man with a pretty awful plan that they knew would end up with their deaths. They also tried to save Eugene, but they guy was happy with his power at the Sanctuary and wanted to stay.

Sasha ended up making it inside but made sure Rosita didn’t, and went after Negan herself. Of course, she was caught and made prisoner. When Eugene gave her a suicide pill Sasha used it and went after Negan one last time as a walker. Even in her death, she didn’t manage to kill him.

Big battle:

The Walking Dead season 7 finale saw the Hilltop, Kingdom, Alexandria, Jadis, and Dwight joining forces against Negan. Except then they learn that Jadis was just using them for weapons and was actually on Negan’s side. Still, Rick and the group are able to hold off the Saviors and mostly win the battle thanks to Shiva.

‘The Walking Dead’ season 8 premieres October 22 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC!
