The Walking Dead season 7, episode 5, “Go Getters,” finally filled fans in on what Maggie and Sasha have been up to at Hilltop.

‘The Walking Dead’ season 7, episode 5 recap:

Maggie wakes up at Hilltop to find Dr. Carson watching over her, and it’s revealed that she’s been out for a few days but the baby is fine. Her pain came from part of the placenta separating from the uterine wall and, because of that, he suggests she stay at Hilltop for the rest of her pregnancy. That way if anything else happens, he’s there to take care of her.

After getting dressed, Maggie goes to see Sasha and asks to see where Glenn and Abraham are buried. As she rubs her still flat belly, Maggie looks over at Glenn’s grave, and Sasha tears up as she hands over the watch Hershel gave to Glenn. Sasha comments that everything feels wrong, and they talk about whether or not they should stay at Hilltop. It’s an easy choice for Sasha, even though Maggie says she’s still thinking about it.

Just moments later, Gregory shows up and starts playing the blame game. He’s clearly nervous about the implications of being connected to those from Alexandria and wants them gone as soon as possible. It’s a good thing that Jesus is there to stand up for Maggie and Sasha because Gregory doesn’t care about their well being at all. Gregory only agrees to let them stay the night, and that’s it, but they’re hopeful he’ll change his mind.

To get ready for the upcoming visit from the Saviors, Rick and Aaron head out on a supply run, and Carl is not happy about it. Michonne stays behind though, and Carl tries to convince her that they can’t live like this. It appears that Michonne wants to stand by her man for the time being, but it’s not clear how long that will last.

Shortly after Rick and Michonne leave, Carl discovers that Enid is leaving Alexandria to go see Maggie. Knowing what dangers lurk outside the walls, Carl is annoyed she’s going off on her own but says he won’t be saving her anymore. They touch briefly on the subject of what happened in the woods with Negan and Carl states he’s not sorry he had to witness it.

Talking with Sasha, Jesus says he’s going to try and convince Gregory to let them stay. Sasha speaks for everyone when she wonders why Jesus isn’t the one in charge. He’s trying to help, but Sasha lets him know he needs to do more. Maggie arrives and agrees that Gregory shouldn’t be in charge either. What they’re going to do about it, though, isn’t known.

Despite what he said earlier, Carl does show up to save Enid just as some walkers are heading after her. Like a knight in shining armor, he runs them over with a car. They bond a bit over talking about what happened and have some fun with rollerblades. Once they arrive at Hilltop though, they share a bittersweet kiss before Enid heads off to find Maggie.

In the middle of the night, Sasha and Maggie wake up to find the gates of Hilltop are wide open with fires and music blasting. Walkers are heading inside the walls in massive groups. Sasha is the first to rush to kill the walkers with Jesus right behind her. Even Maggie joins in to help by running them over with a tractor, but Gregory stays inside when he sees the mayhem.

Even though they helped protect Hilltop, Gregory still refuses to let Sasha and Maggie stay. Instead, he offers them some pie to take on their trip home. Jesus isn’t having any luck convincing him, and he proves to be a creep once again when he suggests that Sasha might be able to do something to convince him to let Maggie stay.

Their argument gets disturbed when the Saviors show up and Gregory demands they hide. Simon informs Gregory that the people he’s used to dealing with are gone now, and Gregory acts dumb but he’s doing an awful job of it. Gregory is quick to try and win over Simon’s favor, and it seems to work for a while, until Simon gets real and questions whether there’s anything else they need to know.

Gregory admits that there is, and goes to show him Maggie and Sasha hiding but what he actually reveals is his stash of alcohol. Jesus can’t help but smirk at Gregory for the little trick he played that also saved his friends. Before leaving, Simon asks Gregory to do one more thing and kneel before him.

When they come out of hiding, Gregory is furious at Sasha and Maggie. Taking a stand, Jesus threatens to make Hilltop’s deal with Alexandria public knowledge if Gregory tries to kick them out. They also make it known that Gregory isn’t the one in charge anymore, and Maggie lands a nice punch at Gregory for taking the watch she left at Glenn’s grave.

Now that Gregory has been ousted as leader, Jesus reveals that he has someone in mind to lead, but wants to discus it later. When Maggie heads back to the trailer, Sasha asks Jesus if he can find out where Negan lives. He agrees but is nervous to keep it from Maggie, so is Sasha but she must think it’s best for now.

At Glenn’s grave, Maggie finds Enid waiting with her balloon tribute. Even though Maggie says she’s not okay, seeing Enid makes her feel better. Sharing stories over lunch also gets some laughs out of them. It looks like Enid is officially family now as Maggie hands over the family heirloom watch to her.

As the Saviors leave, Jesus gets in the back of their trucks and is shocked to find Carl is already back there.
