Morgan’s reunion with Rick at the end of The Walking Dead season 5 was a sign of bigger things to come, series creator Robert Kirkman promises.

Speaking yesterday at the National Association of Broadcasters, Kirkman said that The Walking Dead season 6 — which is expected to premiere this October — will bring Rick’s old friend Morgan back into the spotlight.

“Having Rick and Morgan together, finally, again is a huge deal, and it’s definitely going to be a big part of Season 6,” the showrunner said.

“Now it’s a very different Rick and a very different Morgan who are going to have a completely different relationship,” he added. “And it’s the questions of how they’re going to interact, how they’re going to work together — if they’re going to work together — and what comes from those interactions is going to be basically the spine of season six.”

Their reunion in The Walking Dead season 5 finale, and Morgan’s interactions with Daryl, seem to suggest that the long-lost character will get along well with the group.

It remains to be seen how often Morgan, played by Lennie James, will be appearing in The Walking Dead season 6. We’ve yet to hear if the actor has been signed as a series regular. If he is promoted, that would suggest he’s going to stick around as a resident of Alexandria.

Presumably Rick and Morgan will have some catching up to do in the early episodes of The Walking Dead season 6. Rick will surely be curious how Morgan has survived by flying solo on the open road for all of this time.

What do you think Morgan’s role will be in ‘The Walking Dead’ season 6?
