Could a Walking Dead movie be in the works? Not six weeks after being promoted to season 4 recurring cast member, actor Chad Coleman is dropping intriguing bombshells about the future of the franchise.

Coleman plays Tyreese in the hit AMC zombie program and was up’d to series regular for the upcoming season on April 4. That means you’ll be seeing more of him with Rick and the gang when the show makes its return this October.

In a new interview with MTV Geek, Coleman commented on the idea of a Walking Dead movie and says not only that it “should” happen but it could happen soon:

“I think it would be amazing, I think it would catch on like wildfire,” Coleman said. “Everybody would love that just as well as they talk about ‘The Wire’ movie. I really think a ‘Walking Dead’ movie is going to be in the works not too far down the road, and I think it’s gonna take them by storm.”

While Coleman doesn’t explicitly confirm that AMC is planning a Walking Dead movie, his stature as a series regular certainly lends credibility to his opinions when he says it’ll happen “not too far down the road.” If there are any sort of plans going on, surely there’s been talk on The Walking Dead set.

The Walking Dead season 4 is currently filming in Atlanta, and the very first official photo from the season debuted last week.

There are two ways that AMC would go about a Walking Dead movie: either they create one that debuts during the summertime and bridges the gap between two seasons, or they wait until they’re finished with new seasons on television. Either way, The Walking Dead television show is a huge ratings boom for the network right now and we’re sure a movie would be just as successful in the United States.

Is a ‘Walking Dead’ movie a good or bad idea?
