Looks like The Walking Dead fans won’t have a new season to sink their teeth into this October.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, AMC’s The Walking Dead will not celebrate its season 11 premiere in October as originally intended.

News of the premiere date push back comes straight from showrunner Angela Aang, who delivered the news during the long-running series’ virtual Comic-Con At Home panel presentation on Friday (July 24).

That we won’t be seeing season 11 premiere in October 2020 likely won’t come as much of a shock. Like countless other productions, The Walking Dead was forced to shut down due to the current coronavirus pandemic earlier on this year.

The lack of a season premiere in the fall will mark the first time in the series’ history that it won’t debut a brand new season in October.

Despite the lack of season 11, there’ll still be some new TWD content for fans to look forward to in October.

During the show’s virtual panel, Kang also revealed that viewers can look forward to the season 10 finale, which is now slated to air on October 4 at 9 p.m. on AMC.

In addition, The Walking Dead season 10 will now be comprised of six additional episodes, which the show plans to shoot and air early in 2021.

The additional six episodes will officially bring The Walking Dead’s total episode out up to 22. That makes this season the longest in the series’ 10 year history.

Finally, the series also debuted a season 10 finale extended clip, which features an exclusive first look at actress Lauren Cohan back in action at Maggie.

The Walking Dead season 10 finale airs Sunday, October 4 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
