The Walking Dead showrunners and main cast kicked off their fourth Comic-Con panel on Friday. Fan favorites Norman Reedus, Andy Lincoln, Steve Yeun, and more were there.

The Walking Dead’s next season will kick off this fall on AMC. Despite being one of the most popular and critically acclaimed series on TV, it was snubbed yet again during this year’s Emmy nominations.

Many rumors have been running around about how close the TV series will be to the comics now that several characters have been killed off early, such as Andrea and Dale. Meanwhile, others like Tyreese an the Governor still live. The show has always taken a different path, but the question is how different will this season be?

We’ll be live blogging today’s panel below.

One of the few clues that we have this season is from a recent interview creator Robert Kirkman did with The Hollywood Reporter.

As we meet Michonne coming back this season, she’s on a mission to hunt down the Governor. It’s something she’s very obsessed with. It’s big part of her character this season,” Kirkman said. “She did lose Andrea and she lost her because of the Governor. She’s not willing to let that guy go or be out there. It’s something that may possibly be to her detriment, the fact that she’s so dedicated to finding this person. That’s something that very much informs her character this season.”

New showrunner, Scott Gimple also addressed what he is attempting during his leap from writer to showrunner,

“I’m trying to take a greatest-hits approach and take the best of both those runs and run with it,” he said. “As far as my own personal stamp, it’s more of what we do here already with character-driven stories and really delving into these characters while having some amazing, horrible scares and exciting sequences but all in service to a greater story that builds.”
