Greg Nicotero, The Walking Dead’s co-executive producer and VFX designer, hints at even more bloodshed in the next half of season 3 at the Golden Globes.

With just over a week until The Walking Dead‘s much anticipated return, we’ve been desperate for answers about what we can expect in episodes nine to 16 and, more importantly, will anyone else be meeting their maker?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Greg Nicotero spoke out about the second half of season 3 of The Walking Dead and potential life losses. He commented:

“We’ve established a certain scenario on our show where nobody is safe — and certainly in the back-half of our season, it doesn’t get easy for anybody… We have the whole Woodbury community with the Governor [David Morrissey] and our principal cast. We’ll probably end our season minus a cast member or two.”

Whats’ more, in an interview with HuffPost TV in October, Glenn Mazzar, The Walking Dead’s showrunner, promised several major character fatalities in season 3 and “all of them will be surprising.”

Thus far season 3’s body count is already pretty high, with Lori Grimes and T-Dog meeting their own grisly demises. Lori died as a result of a brutal caesarian section to save her unborn daughter, and T-Dog perished to save Carol from a horde of hungry walkers. So what does this mean for our remaining characters? Who else could be on the cards for an unexpected end?

All we know is a clash with Woodbury is not far ahead, and with Daryl and Merle face to face in a zombie filled wrestling ring and Rick and the Governor at loggerheads, it’s going to be pretty intense stuff!

Don’t miss AMC‘s The Walking Dead return to our screens on Feb 10 at 9/8 ET/PT.
