After weeks of Glenn-ticipation, The Walking Dead decided to answer the big Glenn question at the very beginning of episode 6×07. Yes, Glenn is alive and well.

As fans predicted, Glenn landed underneath Nicholas, which ultimately saved his life. What we learned in Sunday’s new episode of The Walking Dead was how he managed to survive after falling.

Glenn wiggled his way out from underneath Nicholas and hid underneath the dumpster they fell off of a few weeks ago. He stayed the night under the garbage bin to wait for the walkers to leave.

The next morning Glenn puts himself together and receives help from an unlikely guardian angel: Enid, who viewers know left Alexandria a couple weeks ago.

Glenn tries to bring Enid back with him because, in his words, that’s what his wife Maggie would’ve done, but Enid — going through her teenager rebel phase — isn’t interested. In fact, she pulls a gun on Glenn after he tries to bring her back. Oh no, Enid, Glenn is not about to let himself get killed after viewers have had to put up with weeks of Glenn-ticipation.

We should’ve known that this episode was going to be the one that answered the Glenn question. With Abraham, Sasha, and Daryl heading back to Alexandria as of last week, there was only one person left who the show had to get back to the safe zone.

“I’ve been following everything you’ve been saying and it’s meant so much to me to see all of your support and concern for Glenn,” said actor Steven Yeun in a message that aired after the episode. “The Walking Dead has the best fans in the world and I’m happy to be back.”

Preparing for the future

Glenn aside, tonight’s new episode of The Walking Dead found Rick preparing to upgrade Alexandria’s security after the attacks by the wolves and Negan’s people. For example, the residents are learning how to fight and use weapons — something that, bizarrely, they didn’t know how to do before.

Unfortunately, not everyone is learning. At one point Spencer tries to climb out of Alexandria to grab a car to distract the walkers, but his plan (unsurprisingly) fails and he falls into a pit of walkers. Rick manages to save him but then yells at him for not running the idea by him. “Would you have listened to me?” Spencer asks. (No, he probably wouldn’t have.) Interestingly, Tara tried to help Spencer, but Rick yelled at her afterward. She responds with a middle finger. Later, Rick apologizes.

Oh, and there’s still the issue of those damn walkers. As we saw at the end of the episode, they’ll be a big focus next week. Maybe Deanna’s expansion plans will have to wait even longer now.

A wolf in hiding

Toward the end of the episode, Morgan asks nurse-in-training Denise for help concerning a wounded wolf he’s holding hostage. Carol catches Morgan and Denise walking around and gets intrigued, so she goes to Morgan to ask who he’s hiding in the cell. We don’t see his response, but if Morgan is truthful, Carol isn’t going to be happy.

The cliffhanger

What else do we have to look forward to in the mid-season finale? The end of The Walking Dead 6×07 depicted a watchtower falling and knocking out a big section of Alexandria’s fence. As we saw in a preview for next week’s episode, walkers will be using that new opening to enter the premises and all hell will be breaking loose.

It also looks like Ron is interested in killing or at least spooking Carl, judging by the gun he was wielding. Will he change his mind about his feelings toward Carl once Glenn comes back and maybe mentions something about Enid? Either way, Ron and Enid were both immature this episode. Sure, kids, you’ve got problems, but it’s not asking too much to stay at Alexandria and follow the rules.

What did you think of the big Glenn reveal?

It looks like the big Glenn and Maggie reunion will happen in the mid-season finale, but any happiness may be drained by this major walker invasion.
