It was a very tough night for Adam Levine, as both contestants eliminated this week were from his team, cutting Team Adam down to only one remaining contestant. Adam now joins fellow coaches Usher and Shakira with one contestant each, as Team Blake bulldozes the competition without one eliminated contestant since the live rounds began.

It looked like Adam had the strongest team coming into the live rounds, but early favorites Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons failed to live up to their earlier auditions. This week their performances earned them the lowest number of America’s votes, and they were sent packing. Adam was understandably not pleased with the result, saying “I hate this country” as his two contestants stood onstage with Holly Tucker as part of the bottom three, just before Holly was saved.

It was a nerve-wracking night for Usher and Shakira, with their very place in the competition on the line. Each with one contestant left in the competition (Michelle Chamuel and Sasha Allen, respectively), both new coaches were at risk of being knocked out of the competition entirely. After the strongest performance of the week, it was no surprise when Michelle was saved, but Usher was understandably thrilled. Poor Shakira had her head in her hands as the results were read, and when Carson read Sasha’s name, she jumped out of her chair and flew up onstage to hug Sasha, seeming even more excited than the contestant herself.

Sheryl Crow kicked off the show by performing with the contestants she’s helped to mentor this season on Team Blake. They performed her new song “Easy,” and while Sheryl was a little bit mumbly and hard to understand, the performance as a whole still sounded great. Dressed all in blue and once again coordinating with coach Blake, the contestants sounded just as good and fit right in with the 9-time-Grammy-winning Crow .

Powerhouse vocalists Judith Hill and Michelle Chamuel took the stage to perform Calvin Harris’ “Sweet Nothing.” Both girls are such passionate performers that though they killed it with this performance, they could have done something much more spectacular with another song. While Judith’s powerful vocals are no surprise, tiny Michelle always surprises with the raw power she is able to produce when she gets into her signature squat.

Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson’s duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay” is a great song, but did not make a great song choice for the trio comprised of The Swon Brothers and Sasha Allen. First of all, it’s a duet, and from a delivery standpoint, it was awkward for Sasha to have to keep turning back and forth between Zach and Colton Swon to sing to/with both of them. Does she have to choose between the Swon Brothers? Will the drama of this love triangle be enough to break up the most successful duo in The Voice’s history?

Sweet-voiced contestants Danielle Bradbery and Sarah Simmons were paired together to sing Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years.” Unfortunately for them, it was a very weird arrangement of the song, with lots of lingering time between verses, and an awkward ending that seemed to come mid-song. There was also no connection between the two girls. Not that they needed to sing to each other, but it seemed like each girl had no idea the other was even there.

Country girls Team Adam’s Amber Carrington and Team Blake’s Holly Tucker sang a dramatic duet of Reba McEntire’s “Does He Love You,” a duet between a man’s wife and his mistress. In this case, Amber was the wife, and Holly the mistress. It was a great song choice for these two because they are both so passionate, and played into the emotion of their respective roles very well. Not to mention they’re both country powerhouses, so their voices were equally matched, and in top form this week.

This week’s The Voice Confessional segment was all about the contestants’ and judges’ guilty pleasures. As it turns out, they’re secretly obsessed with everything from the movie The Notebook, beautiful feet, snacking on lettuce, and superheroes. In fact, when discussing superheroes, Shakira thinks she would make a good Atomic Ant, while Blake thinks Adam would be his sidekick because he’s already “riding my coattails as it is.”

Coach Blake Shelton is doing everything he can to help out his home state of Oklahoma after last week’s devastating tornado. On last Wednesday’s results show, he and wife, Miranda Lambert, performed her hit single “Over You” to raise awareness of the situation and encourage people to donate to the Red Cross. He has since organized the Healing the Heartland benefit concert, to air tonight on NBC at 9pm, which will featuring himself, Miranda, fellow The Voice coach Usher, as well as country stars Luke Bryan and Reba McEntire.

Tune in next week to see the top 6 perform, plus watch season 3 winner Cassadee Pope debut her new single “Wasting All These Tears.”
