Two coaches were knocked out of the competition in one fell swoop, as the top five contestants were narrowed down to the final three after a record-breaking night of voting. Who will be performing in next week’s finale?

Blake Shelton has once again proven to be unstoppable, as two of the three contestants in the final three, The Swon Brothers and Danielle Bradbery, are members of Team Blake. They were joined by Michelle Chamuel from Team Usher, so the artists eliminated this week were Sasha Allen and Amber Carrington, knocking their coaches, Shakira and Adam Levine, out of the competition as well.

Fall Out Boy kicked off the show with their newest hit “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light ‘Em Up),” with finalist Michelle Chamuel. Though Michelle didn’t get much of a chance to sing, the solo they did give her was all of the “I’m on fiyahhh” parts, which is really just hilariously well-suited to her powerhouse squat-belting. The performance was otherwise unremarkable, other than being a great song, despite lead singer Patrick Stump being typically impossible to understand.

The top five contestants came together for the first time this season to sing Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” The power ballad was lead by The Swon Brothers on guitar, with the contestants each taking turns singing lines. The slow pace of it and cheesy organization, made it come across like a corny high school musical style performance. This performance was yet another chapter in the Zach Swon show, which this week has proven to be, as brother Colton once again only sang backup for him on the solos, and Zach got to sing many of the best vocal parts.

Though The Voice is miles ahead of Idol in terms of the natural chemistry and flow of their group performances, they still have a long way to go before they can manage to make the performances seem like a fun, comfortable jam session.

Last season’s fan favorite finalist Nicholas David returned to The Voice stage to perform his new single “Say Goodbye,” off of his 4-song EP of the same name. The coolest mofo to ever hit The Voice stage, Nicholas still looks like a real-life Dr. Teeth, and his voice is still like a hug to the ears. He sounded wonderful even though he was sweating from the moment his performance started, buried under layers of clothing and scarves and beard. It was wonderful to have him back on The Voice stage, and he has been sorely missed.

Tony Lucca was back to perform his new single “Never Gonna Let You Go,” which is available on iTunes now, off of his upcoming EP, which will be out July 16. The song is catchy, and Tony is still a great performer. After his time on The Voice, coach Adam Levine continued to mentor Tony and signed him to his record label, 222 Records. Tony will also be touring with Adam’s band Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson starting in September.

Last season’s Scottish rocker Terry McDermott performed his new single “Pictures,” which has already hit number one on the iTunes rock chart. Performing in front of an elaborate set made to look like a photo studio, Terry proved to be just as comfortable and confident onstage, and he still has a spectacular range and rock voice. Terry is expecting some big debuts in the next few weeks, as his EP comes out in Scotland next week, and his wife is eight months pregnant with a baby girl.

This week’s The Voice Confessional discussed the coach’s secrets. They weren’t very scandalous secrets; we just learned that Usher/Ursher wears his sunglasses inside, Adam’s out of control with his (allegedly fake, according to Blake) tattoos, Blake sounds like Santa Claus when he laughs, and Shakira’s hips still don’t lie. For one reason or another, The Swon Brothers ended up dressed in one of Shakira’s skimpy outfits, Zach saying, “I immediately regret this decision.”

Tune in next week when Michelle Chamuel, Danielle Bradbery, and The Swon Brothers perform to win The Voice season 4.
