We got two performance shows this week, and tonight saw performances from the nine of our top 12 contestants that have been eliminated, in an attempt to win a wildcard spot in next week’s finals.

Top 3 Results

After America’s votes were revealed, we learned that our top 3 finalists are Chris Jamison, Craig Wayne Boyd, and Matt McAndrew. All three will be competing in next week’s finals, but they won’t be alone.

This season, for the first time in The Voice history, all nine eliminated contestants from the top 12 had the chance to perform one more time to earn a spot in the finale.

Wildcard Performances

Reagan James

Reagan James chose Corrine Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On” for her wildcard performance, and it was an excellent choice for her voice. However, she is slipping further and further into being completely unintelligible. If she weren’t singing well-known songs, no one would be able to understand her.

Jessie Pitts

Sweet little Jessie Pitts made the surprising choice of singing “Zombie” by The Cranberries, but what an excellent choice it was. Jessie showed there is power behind her sweet vocals, and gave exactly the performance she needed to give for her shot at the wildcard slot.

Ryan Sill

Aww, Ryan Sill. “Marry Me” by Train is a song choice sure to make all the ladies swoon, but it was also a beautiful showcase for Ryan’s voice, and boyband skills. His softer high notes were a little bit breathy, and his weird audience member hand-holding was a little intense, but hell, I’d probably marry him.

Anita Antoinette

Anita Antoinette chose John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change,” dedicating it to all of humanity, which is thoughtful. Obviously a message about what’s been going on in America the past few weeks, so there’s no arguing with the intention. But it was another passionate performance from a sweet girl, and it was nice to see her take the stage again.

Taylor John Williams

Um, hi. Taylor John Williams singing Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game”? Wow. A bold choice, and setting the bar very high for himself. Fortunately, he knocked it out of the park, and it was vocally his best performance of the season. A great way to make up for his weaker performances last night.

Damien

Damien chose Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” for his wildcard performance. Damien is so vocally talented, his only drawback this season has been his over-emoting. However, his weakest performance last night was a more upbeat tune, and this performance also seemed to be missing something. Stick with what works, I guess.

Sugar Joans

Sugar Joans and her purple hair were back on The Voice stage this week performing Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black.” It was a perfect song choice for her, and certainly right in her wheelhouse. But for as talented as she is, there’s just something about her that doesn’t seem to connect with the audience.

Luke Wade

Luke Wade would like America to have a little faith in him, which he requested in his Wildcard performance of John Hiatt’s “Have a Little Faith in Me.” It was another great performance from Luke, as there’s really no questioning his talent and unique style. However, it’s really his attitude that America seems to have found off-putting.

DaNica Shirey

DaNica Shirey, ladies and gentlemen. DaNica chose Mariah Carey’s “Without You” for her wildcard performance, and it’s always a huge risk to choose Mariah or Whitney, but there’s no one more qualified than DaNica. It was another effortless performance from an incredibly talented performer.

Host Carson Daly will reveal the winner of the wildcard vote Wednesday morning on the ‘Today Show.’

Season 7’s final 4 contestants perform next Monday at 8 p.m. on NBC, with the finale airing live on Tuesday.
