It’s all lead to this. The Voice final four will battle it out, along with their two coaches, to become the season 7 winner.
It’s finale time. It seems like season 7 just started, but it’s already coming to a close, and this week we’ll find out who wins it all.
Season 7 Finalists
Chris Jamison
Team Adam’s hottie from the mailroom has crooned his way to the final four, and he’s improved by leaps and bounds. He is very comfortable onstage, and has proven himself to be a strong competitor that is unafraid to take chances.
Craig Wayne Boyd
Craig Wayne Boyd is Blake’s token country boy this season, but conveniently, he also happens to be a great performer with a really strong, classic, country voice. He already seems set for a successful career in country music, but will he start his career as a Voice winner?
Matt McAndrew
Matt McAndrew may have started off slow in this competition, getting more attention for his tats and glasses than for his performances. But as the season has progressed, Team Adam’s favorite nerd has unveiled so many show-stopping performances, and has proven to have a better idea of the kind of artist he wants to be than anyone else in the competition.
Damien
From the very beginning, Damien has been an emotional performer. That has been his calling card since his blind audition, and his coach Adam has supported that notion nicely through song choice. However, emotion isn’t everything, and it just so happens that Damien also has a voice that is technically perfect.
Finalist Competitive Performances
Original Songs
At the end of last week’s semifinals results show, host Carson Daly revealed that the finalists would be performing “all-new original songs by music industry heavyweights.” Hmmm. For platforms that have survived so well on cover songs, such as The Voice, Idol, or even Glee, original songs tend to be a risky and disastrous endeavor. For every “Home” (Phillip Phillips), there is also a “No Boundaries” (I’m so sorry, Kris Allen.)
And who exactly are these “industry heavyweights”? We’ll see what they come up with, and hopefully the performances won’t be too painful.
Coach Duets
One of the more fun parts of finale week is getting to see the coaches perform with their contestants. The coaches are always so proud of their mentees, and the contestants are usually wide-eyed and “Holy crap, look who I’m performing with!” even though they’ve gotten to know their celebrity coach over the last few months.
It will be a busy night for Adam, as he’ll be performing three times, with Chris, Matt, and Damien, but Blake and Craig are sure to blow the roof off the place with whatever they have up their sleeves.
Results Show Performance Extravaganza
Welcome Back
The whole top 20 will be back to perform on the finale results night. Not only will this mean a big ol’ happy family group performance, but as is tradition, each of the four finalists will be able to pick some of their buddies from the top 20 for their own special performance. This, of course, means the all-important McPhelan reunion.
Big Name Duets
In what is bound to be an absolutely huge night for the final four, they’ll also have the chance to perform with some huge names in the music industry. Read no further if you want to be surprised by the special guests. Okay? Everybody good? Word has it that Chris Jamison will be performing with Jessie J, Matt McAndrew will be performing with Fall Out Boy, Damien will be performing with Jennifer Hudson, and Craig Wayne Boyd will be performing with Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Special Guest Performances
But those aren’t the only special guests that will be taking The Voice stage Tuesday night!
Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars
Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars will bring their hit “Uptown Funk” to The Voice, but not for its first performance. Chris Jamison performed the song a few weeks ago and did a bang-up job, but it will be great to see the original artists perform it.
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran will grace the stage with a performance of his romantic single “Thinking Out Loud.” Will he dance, like in the wonderful music video? Probably not, but a girl can dream.
Hozier
Hozier recently followed Ed Sheeran onstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and he will do the same here, performing his breakout hit “Take Me To Church,” which, interestingly enough, finalist Matt McAndrew gave a great performance of, several weeks back.
