Filming for season 5’s blind auditions has begun, and we have our first look at original coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green reunited with the rest of the gang.
People shares the exclusive image of returning coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green reunited backstage with fellow coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, as well as host Carson Daly.
Aguilera is looking svelte and has a new bob hairdo. Green, meanwhile, looks like he will be sticking with the red and black theme for his wardrobe, as in past seasons.
After taking season 4 off to focus on their music careers, Aguilera and Green will be returning to their big red chairs for season 5, to see if it’s possible to overtake 3-time winning coach Blake Shelton. Both newly-returning coaches have yet to have a contestant win The Voice.
The returning coaches will be taking the place of Shakira and Usher, who took the helm for season 4, and will be returning for season 6 in Spring 2014. As previously reported, the producers of The Voice aim to keep the coaches’ commitment flexible, in order to allow them to focus on their own careers, as well as participate in the show.
While initially upset to hear of the departure of original coaches Aguilera and Green, fans grew to love Shakira’s and Usher’s contributions to the show, some even wishing for the new coaches to stay on permanently.
Fortunately for everyone, the fans will get to see all of their favorite coaches return the those iconic spinning chairs over the next several seasons.
No news yet on what Cee Loo Green’s special on-air pet will be this year.
The Voice season 5 debuts Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
