Veronica Mars executive producer and director Rob Thomas announced that Ken Marino and Martin Starr are joining the cast of The Veronica Mars Movie.

When Veronica Mars fans came up with their list of must-haves in The Veronica Mars Movie, the reappearance of Ken Marino’s Vinnie Van Lowe was on many of those lists. Thomas announced today that Ken Marino will be returning in his antagonizing role. Marino has also appeared on Party Down, Children’s Hospital, and Burning Love. When fans last saw Vinnie Van Lowe he was sheriff of Neptune. Who knows what he’ll be up to ten years later.

Fans of Veronica Mars have suspected that Starr was joining the cast due to returning cast member Krysten Ritter’s photo on set with him. Starr will be playing Lou “Cobb” Cobbler, a Neptune High ’09-er returning for the fateful reunion. His appearance seems to have been endorsed by Veronica Mars herself, star Kristen Bell.

Starr was not a member of the Veronica Mars series, however he worked with Thomas on Party Down. Starr has also appeared on Freaks and Geeks and Burning Love.

Thomas also announced that he will continue to update fans on casting announcements and to expect a large scale fight at the Neptune High reunion. As a bonus, star Ryan Hansen tweeted a photo of himself, Chris Lowell, and Jason Dohring that has fans even more excited for The Veronica Mars Movie.

Are you excited for Marino and Starr to join The Veronica Mars Movie? Are you holding out for any additional returning cast members?
