The Vampire Diaries is due for some werewolf drama, and it looks like we could finally get it in season 8.

Michael Trevino, who plays Mystic Falls’ resident werewolf, Tyler Lockwood, left The Vampire Diaries at the end of season 6, along with Nina Dobrev.

His departure has been easier to deal with than Dobrev’s, since we were able to see him a few times throughout season 7, but fans still miss his regular presence on the show. We’d definitely love to see him return in a more substantial role on the series.

EW reported that, at the very least, we will see Tyler Lockwood in The Vampire Diaries season 8, episode 3. We’ll have to wait to see if his arc will continue past there, but it’s a start.

It was heartwarming to learn that Tyler was taking care of Elena’s casket in The Vampire Diaries season 7, but it almost lead to his demise when Damon tried to beat information out of him.

Apparently, he will come face to face with Damon once again in season 8. This will be the first time they’re meeting since that incident, and since Damon is still under the vault curse, he probably won’t be any kinder to his wolfy frenemy.

According to EW, “Tyler will attempt to talk some sense into Damon by reminding him what and who is important.” We’re sure Elena will factor into that, but Tyler will likely also use Stefan and Bonnie as examples of who’s important.

Tyler and Damon have never been the best of friends, so we’re not counting on Tyler being the one to break him out of the curse. If anything, we fear for Tyler’s safety if he gets too close.

Hopefully, Tyler is able to make it through the confrontation, because we’d love to see him interact with some of the other characters, including his best friend, Matt Donovan, and his ex-girlfriend, Caroline Forbes.
