Last week we saw amazing things happen on The Vampire Diaries, and now the only question is: How long will things last?

One of the biggest ships on The Vampire Diaries is Steroline, the pair of Caroline Forbes and Stefan Salvatore. Granted, this ship has only really started sailing in the past season or two, but it has gone from a tiny little sailboat to a huge ocean liner.

When Caroline turned off her humanity last week, we definitely expected things to be different with her because of it. Our expectations were not only met, but exceeded. She was far more crazy, cunning, and evil than we thought she would be! And then at the end of the episode she told Stefan that in order to save his niece he had to shut off his humanity too.

The result? A surprisingly badass moment of them enjoying margaritas with their humanity switches off. Yeah, that scene was barely 30 seconds, but c’mon! It was awesome! And if you need more footage of Steroline without humanity, check out the trailer for this week’s episode.

Of course, after watching the trailer a couple of times we can’t help but to agree with some fan theories that Stefan might have faked turning off his humanity switch, but we hope that’s not the case! Well, we kind of do — it’s complicated.

On one side you have humanity-less Stefan, truly on Caroline’s side, which gives Steroline a chance to bond together in a way they never got to before because they were too scared. On the other hand, we know that Stefan and his humanity switch being off is almost always a recipe for disaster and murder, so we don’t want him to get too caught up with it.

The more reasonable thing to do would be Stefan faking the flip of his switch so that he could get Caroline back, but since so many fans already think that’s what’s happening it’s become far too predictable for us! We hope Stefan and Caroline live a long humanity-less life, at least for a few episodes.

But what do you think? Vote in the poll and let us know!

How long should ‘The Vampire Diaries’ go without Caroline’s humanity?
