While we have all been overwhelmed with great news lately from the powers that be over at the CW, unfortunately, there is also a bit of bad news as well, two of The Vampire Diaries actors are getting divorced.

Paul and the rest of the cast have had a grand old time in the past talking about the difficulties of him working on the same set as his wife, especially when it came to the uncomfortable position of watching her kiss his co-worker and friend, Matt Davis throughout season 3. There has always been a light-hearted understanding, but it seems that something has caused a turn for the worse.

We found out today that Paul Wesley and his wife of two years, Torrey DeVitto, are splitting amicably. While the details are private, it has been thought that the distance between the two (she is based out of Los Angeles, while he films mostly in Atlanta where The Vampire Diaries is based) may be to blame.

The good news is that the couple are splitting on good terms, and there will not be any ugly tabloid battles or rumor-mongering. They have been close since they met on the set of Killer Movie in 2007, eventually marrying in 2011 in a private ceremony in NYC, and will continue to remain friends and support each others’ careers.

Fans of The Vampire Diaries may be wondering if this could affect the show at all, and as Torrey’s character has had a VERY minor role since Alaric is no longer a regular presence, we seriously doubt there will be any changes made to the show.

Also, there has been little to no talk about her character’s role in season 5, and as she has not been seen since season 4, episode 15 “Stand By Me,” Meredith Fell may continue to make small appearances when needed, but otherwise will probably not be seen much at all.

Don’t forget that The Vampire Diaries season 5 now premieres on October 3, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. eastern/pacific, and will be followed by the revamped pilot for The Originals at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific.
