The mysterious Marcel has finally been cast! Charles Michael Davis has landed a key role on The Vampire Diaries spinoff series The Originals.

The Originals is the planned spinoff of The Vampire Diaries starring Joseph Morgan (Klaus) as well as Daniel Gillies (Elijah) and Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley).

Whether or not this show actually gets picked up for the fall season by The CW remains to be seen, but on April 25, we’ll get a little glimpse into what this show could be: in the Klaus-centric episode of The Vampire Diaries, we’ll follow the Original vampire to New Orleans, where he’ll meet up with his old protege Marcel, who serves as a leader of the supernatural community in the French Quarter.

While several other casting announcements for this show have been made, we’ve all been waiting with bated breaths to find out who would be playing Marcel himself – and Deadline can now reveal that actor Charles Michael Davis (Grey’s Anatomy, The Game) has landed the coveted role.

Marcel is described as, “Wicked, wild and charismatic; fierce and bold, able to accomplish as much with his charm as he is with his strength.”

Elijah will also feature in the episode, returning to help Klaus find redemption. He’ll find himself siding with Marcel’s enemies (the witches, maybe?) to keep his brother in line.

What do you think about this casting? They’re really beginning to get a big group of characters together for The Originals – hopefully that’s a good sign for the future of the spinoff!
