We still have to wait a while before The Vampire Diaries season 8 premieres, but this promo video offers up a taste of what we can look forward to.
In the finale of The Vampire Diaries season 7, Damon and Enzo succumbed to the curse of whatever was hiding in the Armory’s vault. We got a glimpse at what they were up to in season 7, but the season 8 promo gives us a better idea of how bad this curse is.
Both of these vampires have had their villainous moments on the show already. Damon was actually the show’s first villain, when he arrived in Mystic Falls to make Stefan’s life miserable.
Enzo had his own vendetta against Stefan Salvatore, which didn’t end well for anybody involved. The Augustine vampire also joined forces with the heretics in season 7.

We love Damon and Enzo when they get to be heroes, but it’s definitely fun to see them show their dark side, too. Based on the promo for season 8, they’ll be letting it show more than ever, thanks to the monster in the vault.
Another notable scene from the promo is the Stefan/Caroline kiss! Steroline had a rocky relationship after the time jump in The Vampire Diaries season 7, but they finally reunited in the finale.
Thankfully, they’ll still be going strong when we meet them again in season 8. At least, in the beginning, that is. The Vampire Diaries fans know that our favorite ships can never be happy for too long in Mystic Falls.
