We know there are going to be several villains on the next season of The Vampire Diaries, and we have the casting news for the first five.

Update (July 28): As of late July we have two more casting announcements, although whether these two are villains have yet to be seen. The Wrap has learned that Tim Kang and Todd Lasance are joining the cast of The Vampire Diaries as Oscar and Julian, respectively.

Oscar is described as “a laid back stoner who’s been living the high life off the grid for months, hiding a surprising connection to the Salvatores.” However his relaxed life is changed forever when some supernatural invention turns him into a killer.

Julian is more villain-y, and is described as a “feared, storied immortal with a reputation for excelling in earthly pleasures.” Julian fears one thing and one thing only: Anonymity. But that’s unlikely since, much like Katherine Pierce, he’s been “perpetually on the run, leaving chaos in his wake, and attracting even more dangerous followers.”

Original story (July 15): When Kai fed the Heretics in the 1904 prison world, he released six incredibly dangerous villains from their desiccated state. We know these Heretic vampires are going to be the big baddies of the season since at the end of season 6 they were all revealed to have been brought back to Mystic Falls, and now we are starting to have an idea of who they actually are.

Joining The Vampire Diaries are Elizabeth Blackmore, Scarlett Byrne, and Teressa Liane. They will be playing the roles of Valerie, Norma and Mary Louise, respectively.

Executive producer Julie Plec actually told us about these characters at the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, but now we finally have faces to attach to the names. At the convention, Plec described these characters as “nasty, nasty girls,” and we’re not surprised given that they’re some of the Heretic vampires.

Blackmore’s Valeri character is described as one of Lily’s heretics with a “powerful magic and a dark and moody attitude.” She may be considered Lily’s family but is not a fan of the way Lily has the rules laid out, so naturally she decides to do her own thing. Unfortunately, though, her actions will cause “a dangerous chain of events that will change the face of Mystic Falls.”

Byrne and Liane’s Norma and Mary Louise are a lesbian Heretic vampire couple, who will wreak havoc, though no details are given on who they wreak havoc on. Norma has a “sly sense of humor,” whilst Mary Louise is described to be very opinionated and have a “strong point of view which she isn’t afraid to express.”

Now that three of the Heretics have been cast, it’s only a matter of time until we find out who the rest of them are. What do you think of the casting choices so far?

As this cast of characters continues to grow it gets us even more excited for what’s to come this fall!
