Tonight on The Vampire Diaries we learn even if your heart is ripped out, if you’re a heretic, you’re not dead yet.

Last week on ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Damon, Bonnie and Alaric went on a mission to Myrtle Beach to find the sixth heretic that Lily had in her little family pact from 1903. They did manage to find the guy, named Oscar, and he knew all about the phoenix stone. He outed Alaric’s secret to Bonnie, who in the end decided to allow Alaric to keep the stone to try to raise Jo from the dead — even if the stone was filled with evil.

Damon was able to kidnap Oscar, but unfortunately for him, Valeri, his heretic sister, came by and killed him while Damon wasn’t looking. Now Damon has no leverage to use against Lily to force her to bring Elena’s coffin out of hiding.

Meanwhile, back in Mystic Falls, Caroline learned the truth behind Valerie and Stefan’s relationship. We learned that Valerie was Stefan’s first true love, before Katherine, and that she was pregnant with his baby before it was beaten out of her by her vampire father-figure, Julian. We also discovered that Valerie was the first heretic to ever be created — all by accident!

This week, Oscar is back…somehow

The synopsis for tonight’s episode reads, “Just as Damon thinks he’s gained the upper hand in his fight against Lily, an unexpected turn of events leaves him scrambling for a plan B. Elsewhere, when the fallout of Damon’s actions gains the unwanted attention of Mary Louise and Nora, Stefan and Caroline are forced to spend the night distracting the girls at Whitmore College’s Heaven & Hell ball. Finally, after suspecting that she’s up to something, Enzo sets off on a mission to find out what Valerie is hiding, while a plan set by Alaric and Bonnie leaves their worlds turned upside down.”

Could it be that Alaric’s plan to raise Jo from the dead actually works tonight? We’d honestly be surprised that it happens so soon, but given that it’s the show’s Halloween episode, anything can happen!

Additionally we have a couple of stills from tonight’s episode, and while they don’t show us much we are always excited to get more previews from an episode!

‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 4, ‘I Carry Your Heart With Me,’ returns tonight at 8:00 p.m. on the CW
