The CW released the first trailer for The Vampire Diaries season 6, and we get new glimpses at what our favorite vampires are up to. Hint: They’re trying to move on.

Late last month we got a 30 second teaser for the sixth season of The Vampire Diaries, and today the network released a new trailer for the season that runs a full minute and 15 seconds:

Although several sites are reporting this as the full season trailer, we have a feeling this is just for the first 12 episodes of season 6. Seeing as producer Julie Plec told us the first half will be all about where Damon is, why, and how he gets back, this makes more sense than the trailer above being for the entire season.

Admittedly we’ve already seen a lot of the footage in this new trailer from the brief glimpse we got last month, but the new footage is definitely tantalizing.

Caroline and Alaric are getting buddy-buddy at the Mystic Grill, and Stefan seems to be over Elena – but not with who we thought it would be! The ex-Ripper is seen canoodling with a mystery woman, who he later reveals to the fact that he’s a vampire. Who is this girl and why is Stefan telling her his secrets?

From the brief glimpse of mystery girl in the trailer, we can safely assume that it’s Emily C. Chang, who has been cast in the role of Ivy. She’s described to be sweet and sincere but with a twist – “the quintessential girl next door with an unexpected wild side.” The real question is: will Ivy survive the season or just be a throwaway romance for Stefan?

Elsewhere in the trailer Caroline yells at Elena for feeding on people, Jeremy is seen drinking (again) over the loss of his girlfriend, Tyler is working out, and Elena sees Damon through what we presume is a hallucination.

A lot of the footage seems to be from the first episode of the season, entitled “I’ll Remember,” which will be all about Elena and how she’s dealing with the loss of her beau. But will she get Luke to help her find a way to get Damon back? Looks like we’ll have to wait to find out!
