Tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries is sure to be a nail-biter: as Liz lies dying, Bonnie’s life also hangs in the balance.

Last week on ‘The Vampire Diaries’

In last week’s tear-jerker, Caroline almost lost her mother, and while Liz is still alive, it’s only a matter of time until the last non-magical parent is gone from the show.

We also seem to have lost Luke, who tried to merge with Kai in an attempt to save his sister – and ended up losing the battle, leaving Kai twice as powerful.

The only silver lining seems to be that Delena is back on track: bonding over their shared misery, Damon and Elena shared a sweet kiss. But somehow, we doubt it’s the end of the pair’s troubles.

Tonight, Jeremy fights to save Bonnie

As if we didn’t have enough to worry about, The Vampire Diaries season 6, episode 13, “The Day I Tried to Live” will see Jeremy try to save Bonnie, who is planning to kill herself on the Other Side.

The episode synopsis reads:

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BONNIE — Determined to celebrate Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) birthday, Elena (Nina Dobrev) convinces Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) that it’s what Bonnie would have wanted. After piecing the broken ascendant back together, Elena, Jeremy and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) attempt to send Bonnie a message, but the situation turns dire when they make an unsettling discovery. Meanwhile, after uncovering Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) secret about his great-niece Sarah Salvatore (guest star Tristan Mays), Enzo (Michael Malarkey) enlists a reluctant Matt (Zach Roerig) to help interfere with her life. Elsewhere, Stefan keeps a close eye on Caroline (Candice Accola) as she unconventionally attempts to cope with everything going on around her. Lastly, realizing it might be time to move on with his life, Jeremy contemplates leaving Mystic Falls for good.”

We know that Steven R. McQueen is planning an exit from The Vampire Diaries. And since the show really can’t kill off Jeremy (at least not without leaving Elena permanently catatonic), it seems like he might actually go through with his plan to leave.

Unless, of course, Bonnie miraculously makes it back to Mystic Falls? She’s been stuck over there by herself for a while, and we think it’s high time she reconnects with her friends! Either that, or Jeremy is right: dead is dead.

We’ll have to wait and see!

‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 13 airs tonight at 8/7c on The CW.
