The CW released several new stills for The Vampire Diaries season 6 premiere, and in them we get glimpses of almost all of our favorite characters.
We can’t wait to see what this season has in store for our favorite gang of supernatural teens, so when we saw these new stills get released our excitement may have made us squeal a little bit.
Alaric is back and it looks like it didn’t take him long at all to return to his duties as a father figure for these guys. He’s chatting it up with Caroline and also confronting Tyler, probably to prevent Tyler from killing Luke and turning into a werewolf all over again.
But will Tyler end up killing anyone this season? Despite this episode’s stills, we doubt that the showrunners would want to revert Tyler back to his state so soon – it would be far too boring.
We’ve also noticed that these stills exclude the main trio, and we’re actually kind of happy about it. Don’t get us wrong, we love Elena, Damon and Stefan but with the stills focusing on Tyler, Matt, Caroline and Alaric it gives us hope that the show is going to start focusing more on their individual arcs instead of forcing them to be a part of the trio’s.
We want to see Caroline thrive without Tyler and get a story that makes her an even more badass vampire than before; we want to see Tyler continue to grow as he did at the end of last season and turn into someone we can actually like and want to keep in Mystic Falls; we want Matt to finally be more than just the human in the town and start protecting his friends like he was last season for a little while; and we want to see Alaric live his own new life.
Speaking of Alaric’s new life, the woman he’s meeting in the still above is reportedly Alaric’s new love interest, Jo, played by Jodi Lyn O’Keefe. We learned about her joining the cast earlier this year, and Jo is described as “a tough and accomplished doctor at the university hospital. She demands excellence from her students and has learned the hard way that there’s no room for error in her profession.”
