How are we all getting on with our recovery, then? After that sob inducing season finale, we all needed a little break from the insanity, but now it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty, such as, will Kat and Ian be back for next season?!

Calm your pretty little heads. In recent interviews, both Kat Graham and Julie Plec have quelled the fears that either character are gone for good after their Other Side white-out at the end of “Home” last season.

In Ausiello’s latest ‘Ask Ausiello‘ column, The Vampire Diaries fans learned from Kat Graham herself that, “She is [back next season], but I don’t know in what form or for how long.” Kat went on to say that that finale was definitely an emotional one for her: “I’ve been on the show for five years, and I cried when I watched the finale.”

Breathe easy, Bonnie fans.

If Kat Graham’s reassurances weren’t enough to calm that frantic heartbeat of yours, Julie Plec also stated (way back in May) that both Ian and Kat are contracted for the sixth season, so both will be returning to your screen.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Plec confirmed that Somerhalder and Graham will be appearing in season 6, but was mum on any other kind of details. When asked where Bonnie and Damon went in that flash of white light, the showrunner had this to say:

Did they find peace? Are we going to be left with Damon and [Bonnie] flashbacks and hallucinations and memories for the entirety of season six? Did they find their way somewhere else, and if so, where? I can you tell that the Other Side no longer exists, so they’re not there. There’s no more coming back from that. It’s going to be a big mystery about what happens and what our heroes can do about it, if anything.

So, while we may not know exactly where Bonnie and Damon will be when we see them, they have not disappeared into some bottomless abyss never to be seen again. Phew!

Let us know all your theories for where we will find Bonnie and Damon when season 6 returns to your screens Thursday nights at 8pm on the CW in the comments below! (Premiere date is still TBD.)

Where do you think Bonnie and Damon will be when ‘The Vampire Diaries’ returns this fall?
