Actors Olga Fonda and Kendrick Sampson have landed the significant recurring roles of Nadia and Jesse in The Vampire Diaries season 5.

TV Guide has learned that Fonda and Sampson have both been cast in the fifth season of the popular CW series.

Sampson, who is best known for his recurring role as Woodchuck on Greek, will be playing Caroline (Candice Accola)’s potential new love interest Jesse.

Caroline and Elena (Nina Dobrev) will meet Jesse on their first day at Whitmore College. Sparks will fly between Jesse and Caroline, but his history with vampires might hinder their relationship.

Russian model-turned-actress Fonda will play the “mysterious European beauty” Nadia, who follows Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Matt (Zach Roerig) back to Mystic Falls after their summer adventure.

TV Line can further report Nadia’s casting description, which reads, “[She is] an emotional chameleon, she can flip from stone-cold to flirtatious as it suits her needs. But the loneliness of her singular quest has taken its toll on her humanity, and she finds herself increasingly lost when it comes to genuine human connection.”

“[Nadia] will ally herself with anybody — and employ any tactic — to further her own mysterious agenda,” it continues.

Could this mean that we might see her team up with Katherine, or even Silas? And what is this mysterious agenda, anyway?

Both Jesse and Nadia will first appear in the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries season 5, which airs Thursday, October 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
