The details for the rest of The Vampire Diaries season 5 have begun trickling in, and we now have a first look at stills from two upcoming episodes, “The Cell” and “Fifty Shades of Grayson.”
The season of the doppelganger is moving along at quite a pace as we are already nearing the eighth episode’s airing this Thursday, but there is still a lot of Mystic Falls (and Whitmore College) to be seen. We now get a look at stills from The Vampire Diaries season 5, episodes 9 and 10 that hint at some crazy plot twists still to come.
From the synopsis that we have seen for The Vampire Diaries season 5 episode 9, “The Cell” we know that there are dark times and dark stories ahead as Damon will reveal a troubling event from his past, which will trigger a confession from Elena of some information she just learned about her family. It seems to us that somehow, the Gilbert and Salvatore families may have some disturbing shared history that we cannot wait to find out.
We also know that Elena will go to Aaron, who we still consider to be mostly a mystery, for help in this episode. We can’t help but wonder what we will discover in The Vampire Diaries season 5, episode 8, “Dead Man on Campus” that will make Aaron’s character useful to her.

As far as that Damon look-alike goes, we don’t know much about him, but we definitely took a double take on that picture of them in their cells. At first we thought Damon had a doppelganger too! Phew, at least that doesn’t seem to be the case, even if they look remarkably similar.

There definitely seems to be some tie between whatever role Aaron is playing from Whitmore College and the Salvatore brothers, and hopefully we will start to discover what that role is in this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries season 5, “Dead Man on Campus.”
