The Vampire Diaries season 5, episode 13, “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” aired tonight and we got to see Damon going back to the dark side. Check out our recap of the episode!

Vampire Janitor
-Begins with a Katherine montage as she narrates how amazing it is in Elena’s life, and she wants to get with Stefan.
-Caroline wants Elena and Bonnie to go with her to the Bitter Ball, and Bonnie notices the girl next to her doing magic.
-Stefan finds Aaron’s body in Damon’s car and Damon explains how he’s basically back to being bad with Enzo.
-Katherine uses Matt to try and make sure she’s Elena-like, Nadia wants to spend more time with her and not babysitting Matt, she actually likes him.
-Wes turned a random janitor boy into a vampire. Vamp-janitor! He wants to condition the vamp to eat vamps.
-A woman named Sloan walks in and wants to offer more funding to Wes. She’s been following Augustine for months.
-She tells Wes that Aaron is dead and he’s next.
-Enzo and Damon kidnapped Dianne, head of Whitmore College security, and drained her of vervain. She actually doesn’t know anything about where Wes is, so Enzo snaps her neck.

Tyler + alcohol forever
-Stefan tries talking Enzo into leaving Damon alone, which turns into an attack. He tries to stake him but it doesn’t work. Stefan then tells him he’ll make sure it’s final if he doesn’t walk away.
-Stefan calls Katherine/Elena to tell her about Enzo, and she invites him to the Bitter Ball, but Caroline looks a little suspicious.
-Tyler comes to the Mystic Grill, and hits on Nadia. He wants to do shots.
-Tyler gets drunk with Nadia and they talk about all the bad stuff their mothers did.
-Nadia compels Matt to tell her who Enzo is and then forget about it, but Tyler overhears.
-Jeremy and Bonnie go to Whitmore to go to the ball, and Damon shows up saying he’s there to kidnap Jeremy.
-Also, neither Jeremy nor Bonnie take notice of Katherine never passing on to the other side. …yet?

And the Academy Award for impersonation goes to Katherine Petrova!
-Damon wants Jeremy as leverage to get Bonnie to find a witch. She can’t do magic, but Damon thinks she can find a witch who can.
-Enzo comes in and tortures Jeremy, just a teeny bit, to get Bonnie to agree.
-Stefan shows up to the Bitter Ball and Katherine starts dancing with him, saying she’s not bitter over Damon.
-Stefan tells her about what Damon is doing, she doesn’t defend him and says it’s what he does. He just acts, and she can’t change him but instead Damon has changed her.
-Katherine asks Stefan if he likes who she is or misses who she was. Hmmmph.
-Caroline takes Katherine away for the moment.
-Tyler tells Matt that Nadia has been compelling him, and he goes to drink vervain to stop her.
-Caroline takes Elena to a shredder and she shreds pictures of her and Tyler and the picture Klaus drew her.
-She says that Elena’s emotions are all over the place, and making herself available is confusing things.
-Caroline talks to Stefan and she thinks something is up, he tells her Damon fell off the deep end and killed Aaron.
-Stefan doesn’t want to tell Elena because then Elena will never forgive him, and he thinks Damon actually likes being bad.
-Damon then shows up and tells him how Bonnie is going to find a witch to do a locator spell, and Enzo has Jeremy.
-If they don’t find Wes by midnight then Enzo will kill Jeremy.
-Katherine shows up and notices what they said, fakes being concerned and walks away.

ALMOST…but not quite.
-Katherine calls Nadia and asks if it’s okay to let Jeremy die, but Nadia says that Elena would do anything to save him.
-She knows where Jeremy is, and goes off to save him.
-Nadia tries compelling Matt but it doesn’t work, and then Matt tries to tell Tyler but then Nadia snaps his neck. Uh-oh, vampiro!
-Bonnie approaches the girl she thinks is a witch. She needs her help, but the girl says she has no idea what she’s doing.
-Caroline comes and shows her fangs, and tries to scare the witch into it.
-Bonnie teaches her how to do a locator spell but she can’t do it.
-Enzo calls and asks what is taking so long, and Damon puts him on speakerphone to let them know Jeremy will die soon.

Matt figured it out!
-Enzo suffocates Jeremy with a plastic bag….but he can’t be dead, right?!
-Bonnie tries to get the witch to do the spell again, using a picture of Jeremy to motivate her. Yep, hot boys always motivate!
-Katherine and Stefan show up and try to save Jeremy, Katherine gives him mouth to mouth while Enzo and Stefan fight.
-Damon shows up and says the spell worked, Wes is in Richmond. Stefan says don’t bother coming back, and Damon says he wasn’t planning on it.
-Tyler wakes up and Matt says it was a misunderstanding, she just wanted to talk about Katherine.
-Matt gets into a car with Nadia and he figures out that Katherine jumped into Elena. Nadia threatens him, not deciding what to do with Matt.
-Damon and Enzo show up to kill Wes but he has a bunch of travelers with him, including Sloan.

-Stefan helps Katherine get a splinter out of her back, all sexy-like.
-Katherine says she figured out Aaron is dead, and says she thought her and Stefan could be honest with each other.
-Stefan starts being honest, he’s been waiting for Damon to screw up so badly that she hates him, but he saw how Damon was always there for her. He stopped waiting for him to fail, he liked who he became.
-Katherine says she’ll help Stefan save Damon from himself, but not for herself or Damon: For Stefan.
-Caroline walks in on the hug. Aca-awkward.
-Damon and Enzo wake up in the empty lab, and they find vampire janitor boy.
-Damon then starts feeding on janitor boy, for now he is the backwards vampire-eating vampire!
